U.S. Figure Skating Competitions
Wow, what can I say but hey Regional’s come on! I am very proud of Linzi.
This was Linzi's first competition of the 2008 season and like most things she admitted to me later after her first compeition that she was a little nervious because she didn't know what to expect. We all said that she performed a beautiful program however her usual speed was not there. Linzi placed 6th place.
After a long journey of practices we realized Linzi has learned and perfected many elements. We saw days where she nailed her elements and yet times when she was just having a bad day. We were really concern of her upcoming performance in that just a few weeks because at the time she was having several bad days due to a common cold. However, we knew she was ready but still everything would have to fall in place in order to place.
Linzi performed gracefully however didn’t have the usual speed in her spins. Her elements were very strong and jumps high but just a little weak on her spins. With that she placed 2nd and of course we still are very proud parents.
Again Linzi moving up in from Free Skate 2 to Free Skate 4, we were a little worried about the other competitors. I have been attending many of her skate practices and been noticing her new elements. Linzi works hard in practice as well as her class work maintaining a principal’s list status.
I remember wiping tearing from my eyes after her performance. I didn’t concern myself with her performance as much as we were proud and amazed of her skate ability. We can honestly say our admiration comes from seeing her skate. She performed a perfect program. Linzi placed 1st place with perfect scoring from all judges.
Dallas performance was very interesting for the simple fact that Linzi recently completed in Free Skate 1 and now has moved up to Free Skate 2. We weren’t sure how well she would perform in her elements but to our surprise nailed them all.
I remember recording her performance with my digital camera and shaking the entire time. I personally thought her skating performance was very graceful. Linzi placed 1st place in this freeskate competition with perfect scoring from all judges. Again, we were very proud parents.
Linzi started figure skating at the age of 6. Here Linzi is performing at the Houston Fall Invitational in 2006. This was her first figure skating competition after only skating for less than a year. She placed 3rd in her category and of course we were very proud parents. However, I (Dad) was not able to attend due to work related issues but watching the video was just as inspiring.
We remember Linzi’s first time on skates. Not a pretty site but she has come a very long way in just a short period of time. We are very proud of her accomplishments.
