During the initial phase of the pageant we were not sure about the outcome but we knew it would be a great experience for Linzi. We remember our only concern was whether Linzi is having fun. One of my Dad tasks was to escort Linzi on stage and that was a memorable experience.
At the beginning it was very obvious who stood out among the contestants and surprisingly, Linzi won in the “Most Sprit” and “Most Photogenic” categories. Linzi also made it to the 10 finalists. Of course we were excited probably more than Linzi. I remember feeling my heart racing with excitement.
During the announcement of the finalist I remember trying to figure out where Linzi might place. After the 5th, 4th and 3rd place finalists were announced and Linzi was not called I started thinking, “She’s going to place” and I started sweating. And what do you know the judge announced the 1st runner up and Linzi’s name was called. We were probably the happiest parents there. I remember jumping up and down and wiping tears from my eyes and the couple to my right telling me you should be a proud Dad.
By Linzi placing 1st runner up qualified her to complete in the American National Miss Pageant at Anaheim, CA.
We can honestly say Linzi was very excited and performed very well in each competition placing in all of her categories. The pageant also included a full day pleasure at Disneyland and a half day Hollywood tour. Linzi and her new friends had a blast.
We were very proud parents and again I wiped tears during her performances. It was at this time we’d realized Linzi has a natural talent for crowds. We are very proud of Linzi and her accomplishments.
